BURNLEY VS EVERTON – REVIEW by @LeesonEoin_EFC

Everton made it two Premier League wins in a row after beating Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor on Sunday.

Samuel Eto’o put us in front after just four minutes when he headed home Leighton Baines’s delivery via the crossbar.

Burnley levelled things up with twenty minutes on the clock when Romelu Lukaku passed the ball straight to the opposition and Lukas Jutkiewicz slipped Danny Ings through on goal. Ings took full advantage, taking the ball around Tim Howard and slotting into an empty net.

Less than 10 minutes later and we were back in front. A lovely move involving 24 passes finished with Steven Naismith picking out Lukaku and the big Belgian found the bottom corner of the net on his second attempt.

Late on, Eto’o got his second goal of the game with a 25 yard effort that curled past Tom Heaton and sealed the win for Everton.

Samuel’s two goals capped a fantastic all round performance and he could have walked away with the match ball had he not hit the post in the dying embers of the game. He forced Heaton into stopping a couple of other shots and contributed to our play very nicely. Ross Barkley got a rest as he eases back into regularly starting matches and Eto’o did a great job playing in Barkley’s role just behind Lukaku. It was a good decision by Roberto Martinez to play him today and an even better one to sign the Cameroon man during the summer.

We scored three very nice goals and our defenders allowed Tim Howard to have a quiet afternoon in goal. The passing and possession football was tidy and nice to watch and apart from small periods of Burnley pressure it was an easy game which we controlled in a professional manner. James McCarthy and Gareth Barry played super in the midfield and it’s good to see that partnership back.

The win sends us into the top half and if we can get maximum points from our next three league games we’ll be set up nicely for the remainder of the campaign. Our first obstacle to achieving that is when Swansea City come to town next Saturday. Up the Toffees!
