Barry: Our target has to be seven wins in a row
Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has targeted a seven game winning streak like they achieved at this stage last season to try and end a disappointing season in style.
The former England international also went on to say that he thought that Phil Jagielka was the perfect captain for his approach on and off the pitch and says that he is a big voice around the Everton team.
“We’ve got a nice little run going at the minute and we’ll try to keep that going for as long as possible,” the midfielder told evertontv.
“I think we showed last year that we’re capable of going on runs like this. We won seven in a row, so if we want to try and keep winning, that’s got to be our target. There are some tough games coming up, starting at Swansea, but the confidence is growing and the form is coming back.”
“Jags as a captain is ideal – he’s just what you need in the dressing room, on the pitch and off it,” he said. “He’ll organise the lads, has a big voice and likes to be heard. For the young players coming through, he’s an ideal captain to be around.
“I thought Arouna did really well. He was up there on his own which isn’t always easy, but he held the ball up well and gave us options with players running off him. He put in a good shift before coming off.”
