Barkley: I want to show consistency this season with goals and assists
Everton midfielder Ross Barkley was delighted to open his England goalscoring account and said it was a boyhood dream to score for his country.
Barkley also declared that he wants to bring more consistency to his game this season and wants to improve his goals and assists.
“I’m delighted to get my first goal,” said Barkley. “It has been a dream from when I was a youngster to get my first goal for England.
“But the main thing was getting the three points, qualifying and getting through the group.
“It meant everything for me to start the game. It was a great cross by Alex and I got into the box and finished it off.
“I hope to show consistency through the season, getting the goals and getting the assists.
“The competition is tough. We have good players and experienced players, and we have to do well for our clubs to get us on the plane for France.”
