Baines: We had some good combinations against West Ham
Everton left-back Leighton Baines was delighted to see his left flank partnership with Steven Pienaar click again at the weekend against West Ham and had one of their best outings this season.
The pair have been one of the most attacking threats for Everton over the last few seasons, but a new formation has lead to the team attacking more from other areas, but on Saturday there were signs that it was back to it’s best.
He told evertontv: “When we can get that going it is always helpful. We were able to do that against West Ham, particularly in the second half with some good combinations.
“We created a couple of chances and fortunately it lead to a goal.
How important is the Baines/Pienaar combination? Have your say at www.theevertonforum.com
As a West Ham Supporter I felt you were lucky
to keep 11 on the field, that said good goal
although probably a draw would have been a more realistic result.
Still the guy in black played a good game
I like West Ham, but I think we dominated the match. We were maybe a little lucky with the GB pull, but we were in control massively and should have maybe had more goals than the one we did score. I’d be devastated having to watch an Allardyce performance every week! I feel for you!
I assume you think Barry should have been sent off? Look at it again without the pundits wittering on. He isn’t impeded. He doesn’t change direction. And only when he realises that he’s being touched does he go down.I agree with Roberto, no foul, let alone a card, red or yellow, and definitely no penalty, which he was obviously playing for.
When it’s working it’s invaluable. The sad thing is that Bryan had found his spot within it and was starting to look interchangeable with either.Next year, watch out. The thought that we may have the same gig on the the other wing with Gibbo or Ross and Seamus, makes me drool like Homer thinking about a Krispy Kreme.
