EVERTON FC’s hopes of signing Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo today have been ruled out by the Spain international’s agent.
The Blues have been in talks with the 27-year-old’s club about a potential £9m switch to Goodison before tonight’s 11pm deadline, but his representative, Juanma Lopez, insists it will not happen.
The club had been hoping to land the forward for less than the £13m fee the La Liga outfit were believed to want, but Lopez said Sevilla will not budge.
He said: “It’s impossible. Negredo is an important player for Sevilla and I am absolutely sure nothing will be done in this window.
“I know they have spoken to Everton but there is no way it will happen. Unfortunately there is no chance because Sevilla simply don’t want to lose him, and if they do they will ask for crazy money.”
The Andalusia club are warming up for their Copa del Rey semi-final, first leg at Atletico Madrid tonight and Lopez said Negredo is seen as essential to their hopes of silverware.
“They are playing an important game and they want to do a lot in that compeititon.” he said. “Negredo is important for that.”
Everton had been hoping to take advantage of reported financial problems at Sevilla by pushing through a deal, which would be paid in instalments
