Everton and Newcastle linked to England Keeper Alex McCarthy

Everton and Newcastle are both after England keeper Alex McCarthy according to the Express.

The 24 year old Reading keeper who was recently called into the full England squad for friendlies against Brazil and the Republic of Ireland has also played for 8 teams on loan over a number of seasons.

According to the report, Everton manager Roberto Martinez sees the goalkeeper as a long term replacement for American glovesman Tim Howard.

Liverpool and Fulham were linked to the England man in the summer, but Newcastle are thought to be in Pole position with their Dutch keeper Tim Krul thought to be on the radar of clubs in Italy including Napoli and Juventus.
