Everton looking towards Ajax Amsterdam defender

Everton are being credited with interest in Ajax Amsterdam defender, Toby Alderweireld but are yet to lodge a firm bid according to Dutch newspaper Telegraaf

The Belgian’s contract is due to expire next summer but the reports suggest it would still take €8m to land him.

He has not ruled out extending his stay with Ajax, though, after initial inquiries from Norwich failed to tempt him to the Premier League. He is also a reported target of Liverpool.

Born in Antwerp, Alderweireld joined Ajax’s Academy from his hometown club Beerschot at the age of 15.

He made his first team debut in 2009 and played alongside Liverpool’s wantaway striker Luis Suarez.

Alderweireld, who has been capped 23 times by Belgium, is on course to help Ajax land a third successive league title this season.
