Everton join the race for talented Uruguayan

Everton have joined in the transfer race for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torriera according to Calcio Mercato.

The 22 year old is heading to this summers World Cup with Uruguay and is expected to leave this summer for his release clause €22m, which Everton are willing to pay.

The Merseysiders have scouted the defensive midfielder on a number of occasions and he could be a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin who has been the subject of stick from Evertonians.

New Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands is due to start with the club on Friday and has put transfers on hold until his appointment begins.
