Ross Barkley New Year Media Sales pitch starts early
Evertonians have a new saviour and already the media are going into overdrive trying to flog the lad. Ross Barkley is a wonderful footballer and has the footballing brain, ability and work ethic to go as far as he wants in football and what is even better is the fact that he is an Evertonian. He loves it at the club.
Ever since Ross Barkley made the first team this season under Roberto Martinez and the red rag newspapers went into overdrive trying to sell him and it hasn’t stopped there, yesterday on Sky Jamie Redknapp threw in the comment that Moyes spent £27.5m on taking the wrong man to Manchester United. This seems to be the clip that sky is looping this morning. Not being funny Jamie, but Everton didn’t want to sell Barkley. We are looking to build a team around him, not sell him on the cheap like Rooney.

So far this season Barkley has been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea. Every paper is saying that clubs have bid and that Barkley will go. What they fail to mention is that the player doesn’t want to go – At least not yet. Barkley is a proud blue and wants to stay at the club as he believes it is right for his career. He highlighted the advice that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard gave to him while on England duty that he should stay at the club.
