Martinez: We have 33 points to fight for

Roberto Martinez was in a philosophical mood following his Everton side being dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Arsenal and he now believes that his side can focus on their league campaign.

The Spaniards side were beaten 4-1 in the Capital on Saturday to end any chance of silverware this term but Martinez believes that his side still have a lot to play for in the league with a number of games in hand over their rivals.

“It’s an important time in our season,” Martinez told evertontv. “We can focus on the league and we have 33 points to fight for.

“Once we get the Crystal Palace game rearranged there will be six fixtures at home, so it’s an important moment in our campaign.

“We have to make sure we finish as strong as we can.”

    1. When they appoint the new PR guy, whoever they pick,I hope he stops these platitudes after defeats. They just hack people off.Usually they have wheeled out one of the good guys,or club Captain,to say how upset they are and how everything else is just peachy. It isn’t good PR.It isn’t even good manners to rub it in when the wound is still sore.I know they will never satisfy some fans, you only have to visit some other sites to realize that, but, most Blues are good football judges raised on quality and tradition. It’s about time that the club realised what a massive plus they are to the side and stopped using these cheap tactics on us.
