Martinez wants West Ham Midfielder Mohamed Diame

Everton boss Roberto Martinez wants to be reunited with West Ham United star Mohamed Diame at Goodison Park according to SportsDirect News

The Spanish boss worked with the Senegalese midfielder at Wigan Athletic.

And, after watching his near-meteoric rise at Upton Park, Martinez is now set to table a concrete bid for the star this summer.

Diame, who was targeted by Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in January, has a £3.5 million release clause.

But the Hammers will open contract talks with the player should a club show a firm interest in signing him in this transfer window.

Should that happen, West Ham’s co-owners will look to boost Diame’s pay packet to around £50,000-a-week, and will also open negotiations over raising any potential release clause.

An Irons source told SportsDirect News: “We didn’t expect to get through the summer without any interest in Diame – and it’s no surprise it has come from Everton, as he worked with Roberto Martinez at Wigan.

“But the owners will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of him, and will open talks over a new contract if Everton show they are serious about their potential bid.”
