Martinez: Lukaku has got a real passion for football
Roberto Martinez firmly believes that on-loan Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku will go back to Chelsea a better player.
The Spaniard believes that Lukaku has gone u a level and is now focussing on keeping that high level for 90 minutes rather than the shorter periods which has happened. Lukaku is back on the bench for Everton against West Ham United today and the Everton gaffer is delighted to have him back.
Everton boss Martinez said: “He has gone up a level. He is now focusing on a 90-minute performance.
“It will be very interesting to see him fresh and ready for the final third of the season because I do feel he is a completely different player than the one that arrived in the summer.”
Martinez has a massive thirst to learn about football and different styles and even has 2 televisions in his lounge so that while he watches football he can keep his wife happy
He said: “Normally players want to play and that’s it. They don’t want to know what is around them.
“He is just a curious footballer, he likes to know about the movements, what teams get affected by different movements, what space there is. He watches football.
“He knows all the players around Europe. He knows after the weekend what has happened with certain strikers around the world.
“He has got a real passion for the game which is quite rare for a young man.”
