Coleman should be backup, he'll have some good games for us, but he'll have more average ones. His legs havn't totally "gone", but he's past the point where it's realistic for him to play 90 minutes more than once a week, whether it's for us or the Irish

The board, recruiters, managers, whatever, must see that. Given our current financial situation, you can kind of see why he wasn't replaced this Summer, but that's no excuse for not having dealt with the situation in the last couple of years.
Some of his crossing today was abysmal. That chance at the end when the cross bounced off him and went for a goal kick, too. Jesus wept. These moments that make you cringe are happening almost on a gamely basis with the fella. It's tight on him.

According to the EFC match commentary he had a go at some fans who were booing after the final whistle.
Commentator "Oh dear that's not what we want to see.." Twice. Then the feed cut.

Hard to have a go at him. One of a very few who tried
It’s sad as he’s been a superb servant. It’s not his fault that the club haven’t replaced him.
He’s been finished for 2 years now and we just keep saying the same every week.
Should just retire like Gary Neville did.

Not going to disagree. He is obviously being told to release statements like this to the fans. Its part of the parcel for the team captain.

It's just hollow words when he says them nearly every week

He deserves better

He was shouting in our direction in the Paddock with some lads asking what the fuck went wrong. He's a prick Coleman when fans point out the inept performances of him and the team. He was kicking off when fans were booing the substitution of Gordon by beating his chest.

Because booing your own team at 1-1 is bad, bad Arsenal behaviour and massively embarrasses the club

I dont agree with the booing, as it doesnt help the team. But, how else can fans show their feelings towards decisions made during a game?

N.B - It wasnt booing the team, it was booing the decision to take off the player who seemed to be the brightest on the pitch at the time.

His heart is clearly still in the right place but his ability isn't so there's no point having a row with fans because he can't then drive the team up the pitch to shove it down their throat. So it all just comes off even worse.

He's absolutely done as a good enough player for this club and it's shit watching him all over the show, reminds me of watching Howard, Watson, Weir, Campbell, Southall, whoever, toward the end. Very sad.

Fuck the cunts that have put him and us in this position.

They shouldn't because it leads to the shithouse players falling apart. The club can't afford to cope with Goodison behaving like crying little cunts on top of everything else. We know the club is in a poor state, shitting on it from a height publicly during a match isn't the way to fix it

Doesn’t embarrass the club anywhere near as much as the shitbags who conceded 5 to Watford.

Players get what they give at Goodison, it’s been like that for years.

It does. Bad results happen, doesn't mean the ground should turn into a firm of mings akin to them crying southern cunts

Well on the pitch, clearly he is one of the bigger problems.

He will play every time the club needs him to, it's not his fault he's been left with no cover having to lead the RB position at 30 odd. Not his fault. He's not the problem

I really feel for Coleman, I'm not sure anybody is blaming him?

You can extend the 'he's not the problem' argument to every single player who is at the club though, given they don't buy and pick themselves. But he's fucked isn't he, so people are going to point that out, even if it's not nice, especially for a player that most adored at his peak.

The manager can't be blamed for this situation because he's only just walked through the door. Coming straight in and effectively sacking the captain could go down like a lead balloon behind the scenes but surely the people who have been watching us every week for years could see he was going to be a large issue this season?

The scary thing is we seemingly tried to replace him with a kid that's barely kicked a ball for Rangers, as if we didn't need someone to come in immediately and play every week. Then there's Dumfries, a fella that excels as a wingback for Holland rather than right back. He's really having a shocking start in Italy by all accounts. I've no doubt he was only on the radar because Raiola was trying to get him a move, rather than us doing extensive scouting and deciding this was the right man for EFC. Same with van de Beek. Or Iwobi. Or Kean.

I'm not sure anybody will defend the board or DOF now though, if they do they're certainly not sticking their neck out on here anyway.
