Player Oumar Niasse

Global Moderator
According to The Guardian. Personal terms to be agreed.

Everton are poised to sign the striker Oumar Niasse from Lokomotiv Moscowafter having an offer of £13.5m accepted by the Russian club.

Niasse is currently in the north-west of England and he and Everton will now attempt to agree personal terms.

The 25-year-old Senegal international was scouted extensively by a host of Premier League clubs over the first half of the season, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa having watched him. But it is Everton who have made the firm move.

Niasse was voted the Russian Premier League’s player of 2015 and in 21 games for Lokomotiv this season he has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists. He has helped the club to third place in the league, five points behind the leaders, CSKA Moscow, and qualification for the last 32 of the Europa League; Lokomotiv finished top of a section that included Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas.

Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco have had bids turned down for Niasse and there have been other clubs in mainland Europe showing an interest. But his heart has been set on England for personal and professional reasons; his wife is based in Manchester.

Niasse is blessed with strength and explosive pace and he can lead the line on his own. He has been used as the spearhead in Lokomotiv’s 4-3-3 formation.

He began his career with Ouakam in Senegal and, after a brief spell with Brann in Norway, he moved to Akhisar Belediyespor in Turkey in 2013. In his one season at the club he scored 15 goals in all competitions. Lokomotiv then paid €5.5m (£4m) to sign him.

Excited by this. I've watched him since he started his football career in US Ouakam, a team which was playing in the second tier in Senegal that time. He signed his first professional contract with Ouakam in 2008. In 2008-09 season, he helped his team win the Second League title by scoring 21 goals.[1] Niasse played in Ouakam until 2012 and won a Senegal Premier League title in 2011.

After impressing in US Ouakam's league-winning season and with Senegal's Olympic side, Niasse earned a trial with Brann in February 2012.[2] In his two games on trial, Niasse showed the pace expected of him, leading Brann manager Rune Skarsfjord to boast of his pace[3] and sections of the media to call on his immediate signing.[4] His trial period was extended until 20 February, when he signed on a six-month loan with Brann, after which he would either return to Senegal or sign a two-and-a-half year contract with the Bergen club.[5] However due to injuries, he couldn't play much and went back to Senegal.

Akhisar Belediyespor

After a trial period with AS Saint-Etienne, he was offered a contract but he didn't find it enough and refused the deal[citation needed]. Later, he joined the summer camp of the Süper Lig team Akhisar Belediyespor. The team's manager at that time, Hamza Hamzaoğlu insisted that Niasse was signed[6] and he signed a contract in August 2013.[7]

In the first half of the 2013-14 campaign, Niasse impressed the crowd with his terrific performance against the likes of Galatasaray[8] and Trabzonspor.[9][citation needed]

He scored 10 goals during that season and many European clubs made offers for him.[10]

Lokomotiv Moscow

Before the 2014-15 season, he signed with Russian side FC Lokomotiv Moscow in July 2014 for a €5.5 million transfer fee.[11] He scored Lokomotiv's equalising goal in the 2015 Russian Cup Final against FC Kuban Krasnodar on 21 May 2015, and his side went on to win 3–1 after extra time.[12]

We were linked at the start of the window. Interesting

Just did a quick search of the Russian papers and they all have articles from 4th/5th of Jan which were linking him to us, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Just from the story I did earlier in the month. Could be quite a coup according to the reports.

Id rather the first we'd have heard about it was when he had already signed. Not getting excited or giving a fuck about him till he signs.

Hang on, hang on.

I was only saying to Scott before "Imagine us spending £11.5M in a January window".

And now we're spending MORE than that?

I will be both shocked and surprised if this happens.

Russian player of the year, according to the OS? Anyone seen much of him?

"I would like to thank Everton who where fucking dead nice gentlemen. Absolute jokers when it came to contract negotiations though. Blowin bubbles for life yo!"

But I thought all transfers incoming wouldn't be happening as the takeover talks are still ongoing?

The Forum Hypocrite
Well Russian player of the year and those goals / assists stats sound very good. From a few minutes of youtube he seems to be all hussle and bussle a bit Suarezesque almost which is very good. Quick as well.

I dont see it helping our current predicament but its always nice to sign seemingly talented players. Hope hes looking forward to left mid.
