About time this lad had his own thread..

Marco Silva says he is "really close" to being handed a call-up to the Everton first-team.

"Really close. Close," Silva told the Echo when asked if Gordon was close to call-up.

"I will tell you, unfortunately for him, it is maybe the area of the pitch where we have the most quality. Maybe it is the position where the competition is hardest."

"Of course, he can play in the three positions in our attack line and we are talking about different players but he has more or less the same profile as Richarlison, who can play left, right or can play behind the striker, or even alone upfront."

"Unfortunately for him, when you look for out-wide positions these are the positions where we have more solutions and different solutions, more solutions but since we took him to work with the first-team every single day I am always seeing improvements."

"Even in moments when he doesn't do all the session with the team, he is always aware of everything, trying to learn everytime. When he is doing something individual with one of my staff, he is always trying to improve and you can see results."

"He has quality and, in my opinion, since I join Everton he is the player closest to achieving a place in the first-team.

"When I look at him, he has real high quality. His intensity now is different, he is working with the first-team, he changed his way of playing in some moments and he is doing really well. It is up to him to keep working hard because with his level he will achieve the first-team, I have no doubts."

"For me it is so clear, to give chances in this type of moment we have to be sure, we have to sure."

"We have to try to help the players perform well in as well and in some moments you can have a player who doesn't play often and he can have a little bit of freedom to play or let's give him the chance in the right moment, step-by-step, 15 or 20 minutes for him to come in and in a normal way, not with all the pressure for him to go and solve the problems.

"Now, we want our players in our attacking line to take the responsibility to solve the problems, being more clinical, and putting all of this pressure on Anthony Gordon in this moment is not fair."

"He is working to get his space in the first-team and I think, in the next few times it is possible, depending on how the team react, but it will be better if the team has a different confidence because it will be easier for him."

"But he is doing well, he is playing well for the under-23s, he is making a big, big difference and he has to keep going in that way and the chance will appear for him."

He's a really bad kopite this lad and for that reason, I'm struggling to take to him.
The situation didn't seem to hinder Rush, Fowler, Owen, McManaman, Carragher and the like.

Aside from him being a kopite, do you have any thoughts on him?
I don't know too much about him. What I've heard he is supposed to be a really good player but I know good, matching Evertonians who work at Finch Farm that have said he's a really, really bad red.

One of those who goes their games whenever he can and argues with the blues at FF.

For that reason, I just can't take to him. Sad on my behalf I know but I can't help it.

Wait till he scores the winner in the Derby. He will soon turn. Plenty of blues have turned to red so about time we had one of theirs.

How much do you think this is an issue mate?

I know you get loads of bits about the younger players.

I’ve watched him do well (in person) for both the u18’s and u23’s and he has looked like he had enjoyed it. He looks to give his all.

Is he a childish Kopite twat who is going to need a move or do you think he’ll do the biz? Sad to read he still goes their games. It shouldn’t matter but Everton will have done an infinite amount for him, if he’s still partisan it’s sad to know.

I think he’s a player. I’ve watched him first hand and thought he was class. Shame of he’s anyone who will show us a bit and let us down again.

Contrary to the absolute bollocks wrote in another thread re Unsworth I’ve heard from lads who may know that Sheedy had a massive influence over lads like this. Shame we let him go. Was a major mistake IMO.

Anyway, hope Gordon does well and we get behind him. Osman was a big kopite and he’s nothing but an Evertonian now.

Everton didn't let Sheedy go mate. He walked away from us in the pre season for the Arabian $$$$. https://www.independent.ie/sport/so...nd-his-new-life-in-saudi-arabia-36156195.html

'There were rumours in some newspapers that that Sheedy left Everton against his wishes, but the 57-year-old has told us that he decided to walk away from the beloved Goodison Park club after an ‘offer he couldn’t resist’ from Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab FC.'

Having seen him, what do you think his strengths and best position is?

Unsworth said he's playing him up front in a 2 with Simms at the moment, he doesn't look like a guy with the stature to play as a striker?
