Windies having a bat first, having lost the toss. No QDK for SA today (I have a feeling he's got some issue with cricket SA). Edit - View: https://twitter.com/the_topspin/status/1452938069292765189?s=20 View: https://twitter.com/DineshKarthik/status/1452938245310799874?s=20

    Walter Smith memories

RIP Walter. I remember him for playing more defenders in the starting line up than we needed and bringing has beens to the club. Did well to keep us up in that period. A good fella by all accounts. The press who dealt with him all speak well of him.

Two games today. West Indies against South Africa at 11 then New Zealand against Pakistan at 3. Difficult one to call that first one and I could probably make an argument for both teams to win it (gun to my head, I lean towards windies winning). Both lost their first match, so could really do...

Scotland battered. Probably let them get 30 too many and then didn't have an answer to Mujeeb and Rashid Khan. Afghanistan brilliant. They could beat a proper team on their day, with all due respect to Scotland

There seems to be lots of comparisons between us and West Ham atm, probably cos Moyes. I firmly believe if they lost Antonio (DCL), Bowen (Richarlison), Soucek (Doucoure) and Zouma (Mina) for any period of time they'd be struggling. Keeping players fit is critical to teams like us and we are...

    Player Salomón Rondón

He was rubbish, Straq, but you knew you you'd get 110% from him and he'd occupy, compete with and hassle defenders.

Scotland kick off their group stage today against Afghanistan. They've lost the toss and will field first. I think it's actually a good result for them at the toss as they'll be hoping there's a heavy dew that helps to negate the quality Afghani spinners who've been succesfully plying their...

You can't ask Leonardo da Vinci to paint the Mona Lisa with felt tip pens mate. Honestly any manager would struggle with some of this lot. He's now seen what they can do, and in particular how bad they can be, so let's hope he's got a solution for it.

I am surprised, even when we had our full strength team, we haven't been a little more defensive minded. That's what I have come to expect from Benitez teams over the years. As I say though, I've been enjoying us being more attacking than I thought we would be. The issue is, it's all well and...

I'm surprised we haven't had a few more clean sheets and particularly how poor we are at defending set plays. I read somewhere it was 5 out of 11 goals we'd conceded when it was 2-2. That's just far too high a number. People who've backed Benitez have been sleeping on how poor we are from set...

I was watching United getting tonked yesterday and it just reminded me of us. - We play a 2 in midfield that aren't upto it, they play a 2 in midfield that aren't upto it. - We play 4 attacking players. They play 4 attacking players. - We have centre backs who make mistkes galore. They have...

Not only a great player who balances the side, but somebody you want in the trenches with you when the going gets tough (and it will). Pleased for him on...
