Everton: What a difference a week makes.

This time last week I was dejected, I was heartbroken and I was disillusioned with Everton. It was the first time I felt ashamed to support Everton, but today I couldn’t be more proud.  The whole performance and the manner of the victory was special.

We started edgy, understandably so as well. I wouldn’t have played Fellaini because of his antics last week but he showed he was interested today and he ran around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes.

I’m not Leon Osman’s biggest fan, I never have been. It’s at the stage now where he’s that underrated he’s actually overrated. Don’t know how he scored that today, convinced he was going for the other corner and just sliced it. Seriously though, it was a genuine world class goal. Literally unstoppable.

Seamus Coleman ran up and down the touchline all afternoon, a fantastic performance. I’ve criticised his defending before but he’s been fantastic lately. Just bear this in mind, he cost 60 thousand pounds. 60 thousand is worth it alone for just one performance of that quality. Darron Gibson, yet again put in another top class performance. Spraying the ball about and tackling literally any Man City player within 10 yards of him.

At one point I thought the referee was just deliberately cheating us, we barely got a decision. One of my Man City mates said that’s because we scream for everything, it’s a valid point in fairness. The Pienaar sending off was justified, it was a red card, but James Milner did the same thing 5 minutes later and nothing was given. I was convinced he was out to do us until their penalty shout. I’ve seen a replay and how him or his linesman doesn’t spot that he’s 2 yards inside the box, it’s just incredible. So no, we wasn’t getting cheated, he’s was just a terrible referee.

Jelavic, made it two in added time with the help of deflection. The relief on his face was special, I’ve never been happier for an individual to score a goal. He was absolutely buzzing. The difference coming out of the ground compared to last week, it was remarkable. Coming out of the Gwladys Street singing and dancing, there’s no better feeling.

Things aren’t all rosy again, everything isn’t okay now. I’m still hurt from last week. Wins like that make things easier though, everyone will agree on that. Football fans are fickle, myself included. Keep up wins like that and come May, that Wigan game will be all forgotten.

That could be the win we need to get the momentum to push for those European spots, and with Jelavic finding the net again, if he regains his form. We might, just might, get that fourth spot.

Yes, I’m very fickle. So what! UP THE TOFFEES.
