    Everton Player Ratings – Stevenage

Joel – 5 – Didn’t have much to do, made one good save. Was at fault for their goal I thought, not enough communication.

Hibbert – 6 – After a year out from competitive games, it’s harsh to say he was terrible on the ball because you expect rustiness. He was ignored by Deulofeu so many times, and was still solid enough at the back.

Stones – 6 – Some odd mistakes, which you expect at his age. Class on the ball though. Great potential.

Jagielka – 6 – Looked ok, wasn’t anything special but he didn’t need to be. Made the one block he needed to.

Oviedo – 3 – Skinned a few times, offered naff all going forward. Didn’t run at his man once, despite numerous chances to.

Deulofeu – 8 – Always looking to beat a man which is what we all wanted. Some brilliant crosses. Nice, tidy finish. Good debut.

Heitinga – 7 – Thought he was decent. Kept things simple, didn’t get run past and did his job as asked.

Osman – 6 – I didn’t think he was as bad as he has been. He was tidy enough on the ball but still looks a little off the pace.

Naismith – 3 – Not a left winger. Only positives were commitment and one of few players to pick up the ball and try and go towards goal at pace. Other than that he was poor.

Barkley – 7 – Class for the 60 minutes he wasn’t tired. Does the running for 2 people, not afraid to shoot, not afraid to run with it.

Kone – 4 – Not committed enough in front of goal, should have had 2/3 goals tonight. Quite good outside the box though.
