Everton FC: The Hall of Fame

The Toffees haven’t tasted as much major success as their fans would have liked, but Goodison Park has still been home to a plethora of top-class players over the years. From Howard Kendall and Alan Ball to Wayne Rooney and Tim Cahill. Everton fans have seen it all since the club was formed back in 1878.

If you regularly look for Everton betting tips, you’ll recognize most of the names on this list. These players accomplished great things during the playing days. For that reason, they will be remembered as some of Everton’s best players. There are plenty of greats who didn’t make the final cut, but here are the players who did.

    Howard Kendall

Howard Kendall is arguably the best player to ever wear the famous blue jersey. The late midfielder won several major honours as a player, including the Football League First Division title and FA Charity Shield. On top of that, he scored 21 senior goals for the club between 1967 and 1974.

Furthermore, Kendall enjoyed two spells as Everton manager. He guided the Toffees to two league titles in 1985 and 1987. What’s more, he also won the FA Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup. For that reason, he will be remembered as one of the club’s best players/managers.

    Alan Ball

The former Everton man accomplished almost everything as a player. Alan Ball was part of England’s infamous 1966 World Cup squad. He also made 208 appearances for the Blues and scored an incredible 66 goals in the process before joining Arsenal in 1971.

The midfielder led the Toffees to a couple of major honours, including the Football League First Division title and FA Charity Shield. Like Howard Kendall, he made the crowd at Goodison Park smile. Alan Ball was arguably the greatest English midfielder of his generation.

    Andy Gray

The Glasgow-born striker only played for Everton for two full seasons, but it was one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. Andy Gray’s 14 goals guided the Blues to the FA Charity Shield and FA Cup in 1984. However, the following season would bring more major honours back to Goodison Park.

Everton went on to win the league title and European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1985. Gray played an instrumental role in that side. His career as an Evertonian may have been short, but it was certainly memorable.
