Everton: Balance Sheet shows a decline in borrowing, Stadium Site Identified, Investment priority

Everton Chief Executive Officer Robert Elstone has announced at the club AGM that the club have identified a new site for the proposed new stadium but says that he can’t name the site at the moment.  Speculation is doing the rounds that the site is Walton Hall Park, but Elstone is unable to comment on speculation at the moment.

Mr Elstone also confirmed that the club will face a debt burden if the stadium does go ahead, but confirmed that they will seek an “Exceptionally good” naming rights partner to help ease the financial woes.  He went on to say that the fans would be kept right up to date with ongoing news and issues on the stadium.

Mr Elstone also confirmed that the club has the 12th highest wage bill in the Premier League and that balance sheets show that there is a decline in overall borrowing.  Mr Elstone says that the current squad is valued at £170m

    2. every year elstone comes out with the same statement just to keep the fans happy!! this is a extract from an article that was in the press exactly 12 months ago

`Everton are exploring a site for a potential new stadium ‘close’ to Goodison Park, it was revealed on Wednesday.

The announcement was made at a General Meeting of the Club’s Shareholders.

Chief Executive Robert Elstone revealed the Blues have been in “constant dialogue” with Liverpool City Council over a new stadium.

Mr Elstone said: “One piece of land has been thoroughly investigated by the Club.”

And chairman Bill Kenwright added: “We’ve had strenuous meetings with a very supportive (Mayor) Joe Anderson and the council. Last time we spoke, I think there were six or seven sites – now there are two or three, and there’s one that I would love. But again, it’s down to the funding package.
