Arsenal ready to outbid Manchester United for Everton ace

ARSENAL are ready to gazump Manchester United’s interest in Marouane Fellaini.

United lodged a joint £28m bid for Fellaini and his team-mate Leighton Baines, which was rejected out of hand by the club, labelling it ‘derisory’ and ‘insulting’.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez even came out today to lament United’s pursuit of the duo as a ‘waste of time’.

He said: “It’s been well documented what happened with the transfer speculation.

“That’s been dealt with and it was all a little bit of a waste of time, time I don’t want the players to waste.”

But according to the Manchester Evening News, the Gunners are ready to reignite their interest in Fellaini and are prepared to challenge United for his signature.

The report goes on to claim that while his £23m buy-out clause has already expired, a fee in the region of £18-£20m could force their hand.

Arsenal have also made a £10m bid for Yohan Cabaye, which was met with derision by Newcastle.

The Gunners’ need for a midfield has become more pressing with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain currently on the sidelines and About Diaby a long-term absentee.

    1. Just who says 20 million will force their hand? This guy is under contract and the gutter press should realise this and start earning their overpaid salaries by trying to print something worthwhile.
