Ancelotti Agrees to Become Next Everton Manager

Carlo Ancelotti has agreed terms with Everton as he becomes the latest man tasked with turning around the Toffees’ fortunes. He may even forgo money owed by Napoli for his dismissal in a bid to accelerate his new role at Goodison Park. It’s difficult to say whether Ancelotti has what it takes to turnaround a club fighting relegation when he’s used to managing clubs in the Champions League.

Fans won’t be betting on Everton’s survival just yet; not when they could be betting on anything from other events in the Premier League to playing slots online. While Everton’s Premier League fortunes not going their way of late, they have at least managed to secure one of the game’s better managers. Napoli let go of Ancelotti despite the fact that he is under contract until the summer of 2021. Seeking reassurances

The 60-year-old Ancelotti has stated that the only kind of deal he is interested in is a long-term one, and has sought reassurances that he will have money to spend in next summer’s transfer market. The Italian manager has spent the majority of his coaching career in charge of teams playing in the Champions League but is attracted by the challenge of injecting new life into a struggling Everton. The blues are fighting the possibility of relegation, although they have drawn with Manchester United and beaten Chelsea in two recent back-to-back matches with caretake manager Duncan Ferguson in charge.

Ancelotti has won three Champion Leagues, once with Real Madrid and twice with Milan. He has also been keen to make a return to English football after winning the double with Chelsea in 2010. Including that double win, Ancelotti has won 15 titles in his decorated career.

Impressive resume

Everton defender Kevin Ratcliffe says that Ancelotti has one of the best resumes in football but was surprised by the idea of him taking the job at Everton. Despite a different direction for Ancelotti, Radcliffe feels that the Italian will be all too aware of the Merseyside club from his time in the Premier League.

According to Sky Sports, Ancelotti’s son Davide will join Duncan Ferguson as an assistant manager. Davide assumed the same role at Napoli and Bayern Munich after working as a fitness coach with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

No Ferguson, no Moyes

Ancelotti agreed terms with Everton after the club revealed they had spoken with a number of candidates. He will receive a basic £11.5 million per year salary, in addition to a £2.5 bonus as he bids to guide Everton to another season in the top flight. Interim manager Ferguson had already ruled himself out of managing Everton on a permanent basis.

Everton have been linked to a host of managers since firing Marco Silva. Ex-boss David Moyes was among those linked to the job, while talks were held with Vitor Pereira and Unai Emery. Ferguson’s impressive performance gave the club more time for the board, including owner Farhad Moshiri, to secure the right man.

At time of writing, talks continue as both parties iron out details of the contract, but blues fans the world over will hope to see Ancelotti in the dugout sooner rather than later. For now, while it could change any minute, Duncan Ferguson continues to take the helm. Fortunately, for Everton, recent results indicate they’re in good hands.
