83% of Everton Supporters Unhappy With How The Club Is Run – Independent Survey

Following on from the Premier League Fan Survey, (in which 84% of people surveyed think that the club is well run) www.myevertonnews.com and www.theevertonforum.com have conducted our own independent survey.  We used our Twitter and Facebook Page, the news article and the forum to encourage Everton fans in all walks of life to fill in the survey.  There were no leading questions and the 9 questions asked were simply used as a tool to gauge supporter confidence and positivity.

Q1. Are you a Season Ticket Holder.

46% of those surveyed were season ticket holders, so these people will often attend the most matches per season.

Q2. How many Everton games do you attend per season?

Interestingly, The highest amount of over a quarter of those surveyed attend more than 20 games per season (26%) with a further 14% attending over 30 games per season.  Only 24% were infrequent visitors to games in the 0-5 category.

Q3. How much do you spend on Everton per season?

Most of the supporters surveyed spend well over £500 on Everton per season (46%), which given the tough economic climate is a healthy amount.  Only 9% spent less than £99.

Q4. Do you feel positive about Everton as a whole?

33% of those surveyed were Positive about Everton as a whole, which is great.  2% were Very positive.  A large proportion of those supporters surveyed were Negative about the club (29%).   These results seem to go against the Premier League fan survey, where 99% of fans said they were positive and 75% said they were very positive.

In contrast, Everton supporters are positive about the on pitch affairs. 73% were positive about the team and performances with a further 5% who were very positive.  Only a combined total of 4% were either negative or very negative.  So it looks like in general Everton supporters are delighted with how David Moyes has structured the team.

Q7 Do you believe that Everton FC are well run by the board of directors?

Q8 Could more be done to sell the club?

We thought this was a relevant question as lots of clubs appear to being sold across the country and it has always been stated that our chairman is the best sales person for Everton.  94% of fans don’t think that we are doing enough to sell the club, which is by far the highest amount on any of the survey.

Q9 Should Everton reintroduce the AGM?

Lots of the fans surveyed believe that supporters/shareholders should be able to voice their opinion on the way forward for the club.  A huge 88% of those surveyed believe that the club should have an AGM, with only 3% who think that it shouldn’t be brought back.  9% weren’t bothered either way.

    Conclusion

This survey was aimed at the true supporters of Everton.  A large amount of those surveyed were either Season Ticket Holders or attended a large amount of games per season, spending large amounts of money.

The Everton Supporters were generally positive about Everton as a club, but there was a large split in terms of on and off field positivity.  There was a general negativity towards the board of directors and in general they believe that the club ISN’T well run.

On the pitch was a different matter and Everton fans are very happy about the good work that David Moyes and Steve Round are doing, with a nice air of positivity.

The AGM should be reintroduced according to supporters.

In conclusion, it looks like the board should be more transparent with supporters and maybe come out and show what steps they are making to sell the club.

    1. just goes to show you can never tell with surveys eh ? you ask me to put something positive 1st thing in the morning and I cant ! ask me later in the day when im in a better mood and i can reel of a load ! or ask me the same questions after a wigan defeat and the man city win and ill give you different asnwers haha 🙂

    2. Oh wait..I think I will do a survey of fans who read my website who are nearly all against Bill Kenwright and when 83% say they are not happy with the clubs running I will publish the results and people will think that 83% of Everton fans are against our board.

Oh I am so clever and all the other fans are so stupid!!

      • Dave, get your facts correct. This was a survey of people from Newsnow (that may have never heard of the site before), from twitter, from the forum and regulars that may read our news updates. These are season ticket holders, in general and were asked 9 simple questions. A high proportion were positive about the team and a high proportion were negative about the board.

We have never said other fans are stupid, merely that the results of the other survey could be altered and may not have been directed at the real fans.

On the forum there are a high amount of people pro and also anti the board. Even on our admin team and mod team there are 14 people each with differing views on the board or the manager. This was merely a cross section of relevant supporters.

        • Mate, I’m from newsnow and I think efc are better run than most, including chelski/shiteh. We could do with more cash, but I don’t want Moyes spending it on anymore fullbacks!!! Get Martinez in today.

          • My main concern with Everton is that we don’t seem to have a plan Patrick. We always rely on dodgy loans from far flung places, rather than try and get the business in check and boost every commerical activity. What we pay out per year for finch farm is nearly as much as West Ham will pay per year for the Olympic stadium!

    3. Well every Evertonian i know are dispondant with the owners and have a bleak outlook on the clubs future.

Kenwright is holding the club back and before long it will be too late.

Moyes will leave and a second rate manager will come in and within 5 years we will relegated.
