11 Managers who could be on the Everton Shortlist should David Moyes Leave

Thought we would help the board out by listing 10 managers that they may look at.  They include the obvious, the ridiculous and the sublime.  Have a read and then have a comment on www.theevertonforum.com with your choices

    1. Vitor Pereira – The Porto boss is out of contract in the summer which means the Everton board wouldn’t have to pay any pennies for the Portuguese.  Pereira was Andre Villas Boas’s number 2 at Porto, before being promoted to head coach when AVB left for Chelsea. Periera lead Porto to the championship and supercup in his first season in charge.  Pereira’s record at Porto is Games-91 Won-63 Drawn-16 Lost-12 Win Percentage-69.23%

    Likelihood – 8/10              Fans Feelings 8/10           Manager Rating 7/10

    2. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – The Ex Manchester United supersub learnt his trade under the best with Sir Alex Ferguson. He started off managing Man United reserves before taking over in his homeland in Norway at Molde in January 2011. Solskjaer has won 2 Norwegian league titles in a row with Molde and is seen as one of the hottest managerial prospects in world football.

    Likelihood – 6/10              Fans Feelings 7/10           Manager Rating 7/10

    3. Slaven Bilic – He was the player that could have been at Everton. His career at Everton was marred by injuries and suspensions and it never really seemed to take off like it should have. Bilic has proven himself as a decent manager and even started (after a temporary spell with Hajduk Split) his managerial career with his national team – Croatia. Bilic is now at FC Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian league. Bilic is known to rigorously study his opposition to prepare.

    Likelihood – 6/10              Fans Feelings 8/10           Manager Rating 8/10

    4. Neil Lennon – He’s ginger and has an affinity with Celtic, but that’s probably where the similarities lie.  He may be a decent manager, but its hard to tell in a league with only 1 team.  Everton fans like their managers to act with dignity and class, but the Irishman spends more time in the stands with SFA charges of misconduct and getting sent off by referees.  He also has to dodge bullets that are sent in the post.

    Likelihood – 7/10               Fans feelings – 2/10         Manager Rating 5/10

    5. Mark Hughes – I hate Mark Hughes, I disliked him as a player and even more so as a manager.  He acted disgracefully over the Lescott incident and he ruined QPR with poor signings.  He did do reasonably well with Fulham and Blackburn and shone with Wales.  He is the type of manager that would put his name in the hat for the job. No contract to pay.

    Likelihood 7/10                 Fans Feelings – 1/10       Manager Rating 7/10

    6. Marcelo Biesla – A name that came from a user on www.theevertonforum.com, the Bilbao manager is out of contract in the summer and is a bit of a livewire, but also a bit of a football genius. Pep Guardiola called him the best manager in the world in 2012 and he certainly has a different way of managing.  He would be an interesting choice, infact he would be a genius choice.

Likelihood 2/10 Fans Feeling 7/10             Manager Rating 9/10

    7. Malky Mackay – He has just been promoted with Cardiff City and did well with Watford before that.  He is in a similar vein as David Moyes and looks to have made a great start to his managerial reign.  He is unlikely to want to leave Cardiff as the club are going places and have a set up in place that will back the manager to achieve the clubs dreams.  The chairman is very good.

Likelihood 1/10 Fans Feeling 6/10             Manager Rating 6/10

    8. Roberto Martinez – Dave Whelan thinks that Martinez wouldn’t come to a small club like Everton……. But then again, Whelan owns Wigan, a club that barely gets 14,000 fans.  What would he know about big clubs? Onto Martinez, he manages a team on the lowest budget and lowest wage in the Prem, yet they always seem to escape relegation.  He has transformed the playing style of Swansea and Wigan and taken Wigan to this years FA cup final

Likelihood 9/10 Fans Feeling 8/10             Manager Rating 7/10

    9. Rafael Benitez – The Fat Spanish Waiter is being linked with the club and still lives on the Wirral.  A few years ago, while managing the noisy neighbours he called Everton a small club.  This is banter though? Right? He is out of contract at Chelsea in the summer and certainly has a decent record.  He would be a good manager at Everton and it would annoy them across the park.  The football wouldn’t be spectacular, but it would get results.  Half would like him, half wouldn’t.

Likelihood 7/10 Fans Feeling 5/10             Manager Rating 9/10

    10. Michael Laudrup – The talented Dane was a wonderful player and has started well in his managerial career managing Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow, Mallorca and finally Swansea who he has just won the league cup with.  He is a tactician and his teams play decent football, so he would be a good choice with the fans.  Would he leave Swansea so soon? For Everton, possibly.

Likelihood 8/10 Fans Feeling 8/10             Manager Rating 8/10

    11. Rene Girard – The French manager is out of contract this season and wants a move to the Premier League.  He has coached at many levels in the French national set up and recently transformed a Montpellier team to a title winning team to shock the footballing community.  He could be an inspired choice, a little off the beaten track

Likelihood 3/10 Fans Feeling 4/10             Manager Rating 8/10
