    Some Everton Fans are idiots

    Some Everton Fans are idiots

In the wake of the disappointing defeat to Crystal Palace, which has made qualifying for the Champions League a much harder task, a few “Evertonians” took to twitter to abuse our players.  Top of the list as always (probably because Leon Osman isn’t on twitter) was Sylvain Distin, a player that always responds to Everton supporters and is quite active on Social Media.

Distin was told to get out the club by one supporter – This is Distin, who at 36 has been one of our best players this season helping to shore up one of the best defences in the Premier League, despite a spate of injuries to key defenders.  I think his response was quite measured, if not completely true.  Fair play to him for having a go back.

These fans are idiots.  They are the 0.5% of Everton fans who can’t see how well the players have done this season.  In a way, it does go to show how much expectations are back where they should be at Goodison Park – We are a club that wins titles and wins cups – We just haven’t done it for a bloody long time for various reasons.

These fans forget the fact that the team were on the back of a 7 game winning streak and that this is the first time they have done this in the Premier League era and also the first time they have done this since they won the league in 1987.  These fans also seem to have forgotten the fact that we have secured a record points haul in the Premier League with 5 games to go in the first year of our new manager.

What was even more astounding was the fans that wished Martinez out.  Roberto Martinez – the man that is trying to bring back the school of science.  The man that has completely bought into the clubs history and what it stands for, a man that lives and breathes football.

Luckily the other 99.5% of fans were normal human beings.  I’m not saying that it isn’t right to be upset at the manner of the defeat against Crystal Palace, but these things happen.  We have only lost 2 games at home in 40 odd games, we are on the verge of the Champions League and with a little bit more luck we could have been challenging for the top 2 or 3.

    1. Spot on Roy! I’ve been an Evertonian for over 50 years and these idiots are an embarrassment to the club and themselves. They shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a keyboard. I’m sure the players treat them with the same contempt that true supporters do.
