Everton Pickford talks speed up – close to deal

Everton are on the verge of signing Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford according to a report in the Telegraph.

Talks for the 23 year old have intensified over the last 24 hours and Sunderland and Everton are close to agreeing a deal which could reach £30m for the England international.

According to the report Everton are confident of signing the keeper this month and he could undergo a medical when he returns from international duty in a couple of days.

Everton have been in the market for a new number 1 and have been linked to moves for Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel in recent months.

Last week Pickford said: “I have spoken to my agent and told him that I just want to concentrate on the Euros and be the best I can be.

“I’ll see where it takes me. Being a Sunderland lad it’s a bit hard to take and it’ll always be hard to take.

“Financially it’s not ideal for the whole club. For me, having grown up there, seeing people you’ve known for a long time losing their jobs is not nice.

“But I feel like as a team and staff behind the scenes we did the best we could do and it was just unfortunate that we never got the results and points that we needed.”

Would Pickford be a good signing for Everton?
