Chelsea have been in touch with managerless Everton to bring Romelu Lukaku and John Stones to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku moved to Everton from Chelsea in 2013, on loan at first and then permanently for £28m, and has scored 61 goals in 127 games. Chelsea did not include a sell on clause in the deal. Stones was linked to Chelsea last summer and despite repeated bids of up to £30m remained at Everton. John Stones is reported to have a 15 per cent sell on fee which would net a significant windfall for former club Barnsley.

Lukaku has repeatedly been linked away from Everton and his agent Mino Raiola has previously said:

‘If we had met each other earlier, he wouldn’t have played for Everton…Maybe somewhere else, maybe he would still be at Chelsea’.

Lukaku’s father, this week, speaking with Belgian media linked his son to Bayern Munich and Man Utd but that it would take a bid of £65m to sign the Belgian Striker. Lukaku has said that he wants to play in the Champions League however Chelsea have not qualified for Europe next season and he may look elsewhere if Chelsea’s interest formally materializes in a bid.

Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has reported that Chelsea have been in touch although negotiations are expected to be tough. It may take a deal of £65m to prise Lukaku from Everton and Stones is expected to be valued at around £40m with Man City and new manager Pep Guardiola also said to be interested.
