Kone: My blonde hair gives me extra motivation

Everton striker Arouna Kone feels that his blonde hair gives him extra motivation to score and says that without it he just doesn’t feel himself.

The injury prone striker is confident that he can push on and help his team following a man of the match performance after coming on against Watford in the first game of the season, scoring one and assisting one.

“I recall a special game there against Southampton,” said Kone. “It was the match in which I scored the first goal of my career here in England.

“When you come up against a team that you have done well against in the past, it does help. It gives you motivation to go out there and repeat it. If you can go there and score again, you are surpassing yourself in a way. Goals do that for you.

“At Southampton on Saturday, I want to go there and score, and ultimately win.

“Of course it is a different team this time around but hopefully a win there will be a good step forward for the team.

“It is something we need to do – we want to get a lot of points to place ourselves firmly in the top half of the league.”

“The blonde hair is a look I have had since the start of my career!” he smiled. “On occasions when I don’t have it as it is now, I don’t quite feel myself!

“It gives me extra motivation and this season it’s going to be there throughout.”

How many will Kone score this season?
