Martinez: We will bring in 3 or 4 players

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that his side will keep all of his top talent over the summer even though he admits that the game is changing and footballers don’t have as much loyalty.

He highlighted John Stones, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku as 3 players he wants to build a team around and admits that he will bring in three or four players that are the right fit for the dressing room.

He said: “We know how we feel about John Stones. The partnership he’s developed with Phil Jagielka can become really really special and that’s something we want to continue.

“The modern game has a real lack of values sometimes and there is a lack of loyalty coming back into football clubs. Sometimes you just need to expect that the game has changed a lot.

“But from our point of view we’re just really looking forward to young players, who have had an opportunity, taking a bigger role and help us become a winning team.

“That’s the focus we have and we hope we can look forward to the future with players like John Stones, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku here.

“I expect a lot of movement but we’re certainly not actively looking to lose any of our assets.”

“I’m sure it will be a busy summer,” he said. “If you look around I’m sure every team will try to improve and make signings with the new TV deal around the corner. I do expect a lot of movement.

“We need continuity and want to carry on with our experienced players and the youngsters who have assumed good roles, but that the three or four players we bring in can adapt to what’s needed in the dressing room.”
